Neon Bloom – Guji Hambella Heirloom
Guji Hambela is an expressive specialty coffee from Ethiopia, grown in a community of around 150 small farmers in Hambella, Guji. The coffee cherries ripen at 1,950 to 2,200 meters above sea level, where altitude, climate and terroir give this coffee its clear origin and distinctive character. Ethiopian Heirloom Arabica is processed here, a coffee that stands for complexity, elegance and an unmistakable aroma.
The coffee is processed using the dry process / natural method. The coffee then dries slowly on raised drying beds in the sun for 3 to 4 weeks. It is precisely this slow drying process that builds up depth and gives the profile its rich, juicy and at the same time clean effect in the cup.
In the cup, the Guji Hambela shows exactly what you would expect from a strong Ethiopian natural: sweet peach, dark chocolate, jasmine, pomegranate, orange and a juicy, slightly winey fruit. There is also a crisp sweet-tart acidity, spicy exotic nuances and a soft, chocolaty mouthfeel with a long finish. A coffee with pressure, elegance and that wild clarity that makes Guji so special.
